Losing is painful. It does not issue what – a job, a promotion, your well being, a lover, a spouse – it is distressing. Sure, the discomfort is greater, the higher the loss, but anytime we drop some thing, we feel it deeply.
A pal of mine, a demo law firm by trade, not too long ago dropped a large case. He is not in the routine of shedding trials, for him this was a most strange experience. But what intrigued me was his mindset about it: “I can see where I manufactured some errors. I know it’s hindsight and all that, but I seriously misjudged how the jurors would look at particular specifics. I are unable to wait around for my following demo – I have some feelings on what I could have accomplished in a different way, and I want to see how they will enjoy out.”
His is an optimist’s mindset. A wonder-creating attitude. One particular that pretty much guarantees good results. Oh, possibly not each time, but a lot more often than not.
